Report: DELTA Kilo6
COMMAND: Castro, Marlon, PFC
DATE: 19MAR05
R.O.E (Rules of Engagement): Delta Commander
authorizes modified R.O.E. in effect.
ALL resistance, other than unarmed civilians, to be terminated with
extreme prejudice upon contact overtly/covertly as needed.
Individual Unit
AARs: AAR: RANGER, CHALK 1
AAR: DELTA, KILO 61
EVO #1
- Eliminate resistance,
capture Aidid
- Extract at Primary LZ.
Intel reports that
Militia Warlord, Aidid, meeting at “BLDG15” with senior staff. Militia informant
has verified that Aidid will be in the one of the rooms closest to the South
Entrance. Speculation of enemy resistance, numbers unknown.
Kilo 2-6, SPC Joe Lin -
1st unit deployed via rotary insertion, covering
South/West sides of target“BLDG 15”.
Kilo 6, PFC Marlon Castro -
2nd unit deployed via rotary
insertion covering East side of target “BLDG 15”,
breaching North Entry as
distraction.
Kilo 1-6, Sgt. Alex
Broumand -
3rd unit deployed via rotary insertion, breaching
South Entry to capture Aidid.
Upon insertion, all
teams acted/reacted as instructed for EVO #1.Enemy resistance was present, but light. SPC
Lin was successful in securing the South/West side of BLDG 15 as was PFC Castro
with the North/East side & North Entry distraction. SGT Broumand & his entry team were
able to breach, eliminate resistance, & capture Aidid under 14 seconds.
While waiting for extract, resistance
increased. Decision was made to move Aidid to an
alternate LZ as recommended by SPC Lin. Units re-deployed to BLDG 16 where
target was secured until vehicle column arrived.
EVO #2
- Load Aidid on vehicle column & escort to
base.
- Deploy CSAR as necessary.
- Secure Super 6-4 Crash
site.
The vehicle column arrived & extracted Aidid.
Command requested that Delta Units escort column to base. Due to the Super
6-4 crash, responsibility of delivering Aidid was transferred to Ranger Units
while Delta Units were charged with securing crash site. CSAR team was activated
& deployed via rotary insertion to 6-4 Crash site. Vehicles for transport
were unavailable for Delta Units & traveled to crash site on foot. CSAR team arrived at Crash site, secured
the area, treated the wounded, & waited for extraction. Afterward, Kilo 1-6/2-6 arrived to the
Crash Site. Both units reported heavy resistance during their movement. Several
buildings were breached, technicals destroyed, & OPFOR eliminated. Ultimately, area was secured & all
wounded prepped for extraction.
EVO #3
- Secure Super 6-1/6-4 Crash
Sites.
- Escort Vehicle Column to
'Green Zone”.
Delta Snipers Joe
Lin/Mickey Colombo deployed to secure Super 6-1 Crash site. Though they fought
fiercely, they were ultimately overrun & objective was lost. Aerial reports
state that “The 2 coordinated fire/movement & held the OPFOR at bay for as
long as they could”.
Remaining units were
charged secure Super 6-4 crash site & to wait for the vehicle column. Kilo
1-6 requested permission to “Look for the Vehicle Column”. Kilo 6 authorized
request & Kilo 1-6 was on the prowl. Kilo 1-6 details his actions on his
AAR.
Final stages of the “Column
Escort”
While waiting for the
Vehicle Column, Delta units were reluctant to sit still while other units were
in need of support. Kilo 6, 1-6 ,& 2-6 were dispatched within surrounding
areas to 'find, fix, & flank” OPFOR to assist column movement.
“Sweeping &
Clearing” Bldg's 22, 32, 31, 23, 24, 25, 26, & 27 were executed with the
highest level tenacity. The final mission completed prior to the vehicle column
reaching the “Green Zone” was the coordinated effort of Spc Lin & Sgt
Broumand in the demolition of “Super 6-4” Crash site & the taking of the
“Hospital” Bldg.
Final Thoughts: I am short a witness & am unable to recommend the
“Valor” Award to Sgt Broumand & Spc Lin. However they both
demonstrated the highest level of professionalism. Their “Can Do” Attitudes in
addition to their ability to “Overcome, Adapt, & Improvise” were equaled by
no other that day.
I could not have been
issued better players than what I had that day and would serve with them in any
OP. Though they all performed well under fire the following are the most
noted:
Paul Harrison: Excellent
performance as my RTO & Squad Leader.
SAC AIRSOFT Team members: taking Aidid in 14
seconds.
Eric Saldana: His vision
& willingness to engage OPFOR in EVO #2.
