AAR IN PROGRESS
OP:
Ephemeral Spectre
February 1991. Iraqi Western Corridor. Operation Desert
Storm
In the past 24-48 hours, an independently operating Iraqi HQ unit has
been launching several SCUD missiles into populated areas of Israel and Saudi
Arabia.
US Central Command (CENTCOM) are of the opinion that this missile
brigade has now closed ranks and consolidated itself with other units in the
region around AI Qaim, in the Northern Scud box, aka "Scud Boulevard", and are
now providing command and control directives for further
strikes.

A CENTCOM directed Task Force Orion, made of multiple allied Special
Forces teams, to deploy under cover of night to the Iraqi Western Corridor AO.
TF Orion's mission was to disrupt any and all SCUD operations
there.
Due to a COM/SAT intel error a four man British SBS Black Squadron
(code named: Yankee 5-1) was inserted (via HALO) inside the enemy HQ perimeter.
Yankee 5-1 had no recourse but to defend itself and engage the enemy with
maximal effort.
CENTCOM realizing Yankee 5-1's dire situation immediately dispatched
SEAL team 10 to rendezvous with Yankee5-1 and render fire support and
assistance.

With the rendezvous completed the newly combined force was then
retasked with completing the mission. The resulting night operations are
classified Level Red – Eyes Only.

Daylight operations saw the allied SBS and SEAL teams successfully
deploy against the OPFOR Rocket Artillery company.
Eye
witness account...from BM2

After
linking up with the Brits of Yankee 5-1 we gained Intel that the Iraqi
re-enforcements were heading our direction. There was a sand wash for a
road that traversed through the valley and left the approaching troops no option
but to pass through a bottleneck between two rock formations. This is where we
planned to take them out.
We
fanned out both sides of the wash with my swim buddy Matt and I in the rock
formation on the North side. As we set up our fields of fire we could hear the
constant growl of the diesel motor as the Iraqi truck drew closer. While
waiting, a large Bull snake about 5ft long slithered between the rocks in which
we laid near. It was then we saw the front cab of the truck as it passed
into our field of view. Maintaining fire discipline we waited until the
rear of the truck which contained the troops was in view.
We
began to fire on the troop carrier and the Iraqi soldiers never knew what hit
them. They were taking fire from every direction. I had never seen so many
troops try to fit under the bench seat of a carrier. The truck continued
to role past our position with the only the driver still breathing and to tell
the tale.

OP SCENARIO:... Based on historical events of the
First
Gulf
War - Operation: Desert Storm
…
Target: The Iraqi
Western Corridor ... February 1991 …
In the past 24-48 hours, an independently operating Iraqi HQ
unit has been launching several SCUD
missiles into populated areas of Israel and Saudi Arabia. Commanders
in US Central Command (CENTCOM) are of the opinion that this missile brigade has
now closed ranks and consolidated itself with other units in the region around AI Qaim, in the Northern Scud box, nicknamed "Scud
Boulevard",
and are now providing command and control
directives for further strikes.
A CENTCOM
directed Task Force, made of multiple allied Special Forces teams had been
tasked to deploy under cover of night to the Iraqi Western Corridor AO. The TF
mission was to disrupt any and all SCUD operations there. One such team
(codename: “Yankee5-1”), was to be dropped in via HALO to the believed hot zone
where, based on COM/SAT intel, the key Iraqi command element was
positioned. Unfortunately for Yankee5-1, intel got it right and the team
had now found itself dropped exactly within this enemy HQ perimeter. They had no
choice but to fight their way out to complete the mission…
The Yankee5-1 team must move through its objective
course, then EXFIL to the LZ for helo pickup. Due to the incorrect insertion and
initial team losses, a SEAL team has been re-deployed to rendezvous with
Yankee5-1 to assist in operations.
