AREA OF OPERATION

USFOR was comprised of elements of US and ROK Special Forces.
REDFOR was a special commando unit of the DPRK assigned to internal security.
The AO was a classified location deep inside North Korea. USFOR was tasked
with investigating a suspected WMD storage site at Objective Tango. REDFOR
was tasked with protecting a secret stash of fissionable material.

MARCH TO CONTACT

USFOR moved to contact, north of Phase Line ROMEO and east
of TANGO. After an initial skirmish, USFOR ELINT and Intel assets determined
that TANGO did indeed contain WMD materials. USFOR requested an immediate
air strike on TANGO, but was denied, as the DPRK had opened a broad offensive
against the ROK. All US air assets were tasked to Air Superiority and Counterforce
objectives. |
SNIPER TEAMS

USFOR moved in two units—the main body and a sniper
team. The sniper team cleared the river bed and then posted an observation
post in the hills over TANGO. The USFOR main body encountered a REDFOR sniper
shortly after insertion. Two US service members were WIA. The REDFOR sniper
escaped. |
ASSAULT ON TANGO
Fearing that TANGO might hold completed weapons, USFOR decided
to mount an assault. After maneuvering to the north, they attacked and entered
TANGO. REDFOR escaped to the west with the WMD materials. |
REDFOR REGROUP AND AIRSTRIKE
REDFOR set up a defensive perimeter around a neighboring
site to the east—designated DELTA. They were able to call a single
air strike against the USFOR at TANGO. The strike was completely unexpected
and stopped all USFOR operations. |
ASSAULT ON DELTA

After a pause, USFOR enforcements arrived and collected
the teams at TANGO. The entire force moved on objective DELTA. After meeting
a REDFOR blocking force, USFOR circled to the south and attacked. Since
gaining Air Superiority, US air assets became available and the assault
was complimented with Close Air Support from USAF F-16s. USFOR was able
to overrun DELTA.
|
COUNTER ATTACK

REDFOR committed a platoon of regular army (marked A) and
pressed a counter attack. The army platoon pinned the USFOR defenders to
the south, while the original DPRK commando (marked B) infiltrated from
the east. USFOR declared the objective untenable and called for an immediate
air evacuation. The REDFOR reoccupied DELTA. |
ESCAPE AND AMBUSH

REDFOR anticipated a heavy air bombardment and evacuated
DELTA and all WMD materials. The main force moved to the east along the
road marked Phase Line ROMEO. USFOR countered with an airmobile ambush.
They successfully killed or captured all REDFOR soldiers, but no WMD were
found. It is unknown if they were destroyed in the bombardment on DELTA
or escaped through a different route.
The mission was considered a draw. |
