OP:HAWTHORNE - NIGHT CHALLENGE COURSE

This course is based on the OP:Hawthorne - AO and will be operated IAW: SOP_NIGHT_OP.

REGISTRATION:

As of now, only four teams may sign-up to operate on the night course. We are also taking volunteers to operate as Controller Cadre if you still would like to participate. Team registration will be taken on a “first come first serve” basis.

Email spy_ratt@yahoo.com with the following:

1)       Team Leader

2)       Team members (up to 4)

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

After a briefing to cover the course objectives and safety, each team will be given a start time for each turn. When a team is on deck and equipment check is done, you will be escorted out of the firebase to the Start Point (SP) by a Controller. There will be a designated “blue line” for this course. This line will extend laterally from the SP to also designate the team's egress point (finish line). Your team will be greeted by a Controller to record your course time.

1)       Insertion:

a)       Patrol, undetected, to sector Foxtrot and the Vietnamese-held dam

2)       Sentry:

a)       Team must eliminate any sentries with 2 pistol shots

i)         If you miss, go full-auto… WARNING: this may alert NVA patrols to your presense

b)       Silently move to the dam's face

3)       Demo:

a)       Team must place demolition satchel on the dam's face (glow-stick marker)

b)       Detonate when clear

4)       Recon:

a)       Move the team undetected, to skirt around and through sector X-Ray

i)         Observe any hostile contacts encountered

ii)       Do not engage if encountered

iii)      It is vital that a correct force assessment is made, to include numbers

5)       Egress:

a)       Escape and evade your team back to the blue line, towards the Firebase

X)       SITREP:

a.       Troopers, remember this is a live-fire action

b.       An NVA regiment is suspected to be massing for an assault in and around Foxtrot and X-Ray

c.       There is a high potential to encounter a VC patrol at any time, while on the course

                     i.            Evade and stay on mission

d.       It is vital that your team returns unharmed to report enemy unit strength

TEAM EQUIPMENT:

At minimum, each team member must bring the following:

1)       Pencil & Paper for objectives at briefing

2)       2 glow sticks: (1 green and 1 red)

3)       1 US ARMY satchel pouch to use in the field

S3 NOTES:

As issues arise, this list will be appended...

1)       SAFETY

a)       This is a live-fire operation, eye-protection MUST be worn at all times

b)       All daylight AEG minimum engagement rules still apply (25ft radius)

i)         Pistol shots may be taken within that distance

ii)       Use of rubber knives are only be authorized by the Senior Controller (S3)

(1)    This is to ensure who uses them and to limit physical contact

c)       Use of glow sticks are required to identify Controllers (blue), teams (red), and the course boundary (green)

2)       There will need to be a lighted area at the camp-end of the dam for visual reference

3)       There will also be background lighting from either camps for course movement
